Cat’s Eyes~

~See a hi-res enlargement of this photo on my Flickr stream~
While I was putting together my “electric indigo” look, I ran across these wonderful feline eyes from Sn@tch in my inventory (yes! Ivey does things other than clothes!). Although I didn’t end up using them in my indigo fashion post, I couldn’t resist sharing them with you. The cat’s eye pupil is always fun for a bit of an exotic look (even if you aren’t a cat) … and the color and the light/reflections are just beautiful.
I also want to take this opportunity to highlight again how tattoo-layer makeup can really help you customize your look, or just shake things up a little bit. The base skin here is the lovely Atomic skin recently available at The Dressing Room. It’s a beautiful skin all on it’s own, but I was looking for something other than teal eyeshadow for this particular picture. With some new eye makeup, eyelashes, freckles, and lip makeup, I had a new face, customized to highlight these gorgeous eyes, and reflect some of my own style.

52 Weeks of Color 2: Week 3 Electric Indigo

When I saw this week’s color, the first thing that popped into my mind were these terrific, eye-catching leather pants from Deviance. I love to contrast a “tough” piece (like leather pants) with something at the other end of the spectrum — like a filmy white blouse, and romantic boots. To top it all off is a new-ish casual updo from Truth — I can never get enough of those! This one has hair clips that change color — or you can hide them entirely. Romantic, sexy, with a little bit of a contemporary edge — this look could take you almost anywhere!

52 Weeks of Color 2: Week 2 Coral

Coral is not one of my typical colors… and in fact I had exactly one thing in my inventory that went by the name of coral. Fortunately, it was this beautiful dress from Vanitas Vesture. I love the gorgeous gradations of color in this dress, not to mention the subtle pattern of the fabric and the lovely, feminine shape. It was a joy to pull this out and wear it again. The turquoise and teal accents made the whole ensemble much more “me”, and provided that essential level of quirkiness to my look
And, hey! I’m now caught up on the color challenge! Check out all the other coral stylings on the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge Flickr group~

I’m not sure it bodes well that I’m already late on week ONE of this challenge! Then again, maybe I’ve just come to grips early that I’m not likely to always be on time
In any event, I’m thrilled to be joining the newest iteration of the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge, Part Deux.
One of my most favorite parts of this challenge is that I feel encouraged to dig into the depths of my inventory to find beautiful things that I never wear enough. I think Blowpop makes some of the most beautiful lingerie on the grid. I haven’t seen much in the way of new releases… but this set is still available inworld and on the Marketplace.

The Work of Christmas Begins

~See a hi-res enlargement of this picture on my Flickr stream~
This week after Christmas is actually one of my favorite times of the season. The hustle and bustle of preparing for Christmas is over … my work has not kicked back into to full gear yet … there’s still an inkling of generosity in our midst. And for me, the moments before a New Year dawns seem bursting with possibility. I make no apologies for being sentimental and optimistic this time of year
This will probably be my last fashion post of the year, and I want to share a lovely yule outfit, and some enduring Christmas spirit. This beautiful dress is one of two limited-time dollarbie gifts at Mer-Elf creations. I believe these will be out ’til Jan. 1 — so there is still time to grab them. The one I’m wearing in the picture could be worn any time of year, and would be great for roleplay or period dressing/photography. There are skirt and sleeve options that give you a variety of looks. And/or, if like me, you are still collecting fantastic Christmas stuff to save for NEXT year — here’s your chance!
I want to close out my last fashion post of 2011 with a poem that I heard on Christmas Day that really touched my heart, and I offer it here as a wish for all the best of life and love in the coming year.
When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flock,
The work of Christmas begins:To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among brothers,
To make music in the heart.– by Howard Thurman
