Happy Friday, my friends~ Like many of you, I always look forward to another Fifty Linden Friday …. and that round of shopping inevitably leads to even more shopping! Today I picked up the mesh racerback tank from Miel. (and the pants are a previous FLF item from Miel) I’m loving everything she is putting out these days! And I especially love that she is putting her 50L stuff, including the demos, on the marketplace — what could be easier than that??

I’m also wearing the lovely Renee skin that Glam Affair has at Collabor88 this month (always an amazing deal!) And tho’ I’m not usually a blue-eyed girl, I couldn’t resist these indigo eyes from Insufferable Dastard’s VIP group gift for January. They are from her City Lights line, and some of my faves!

Have a terrific weekend!

Happy New Year, my friends! Hope yours is getting off to a terrific start — mine is stupendous! My plurk and flickr friends already know that I got (sl)married on Christmas… so I’m still in the giddy honeymoon stage — bear with me!

One of the things I love about a new year is taking a look at a fresh clean year stretching out in front of me, and thinking of some of the things I’d like to enjoy and pursue. I’m not nearly ambitious enough to take on a 365 project — but I think I’m going to shoot for a 52 LOTD project :)

This week is a fun rave-ish look for a club event, and I really enjoyed putting it together. Color makes me happy — and a rainbow of color, even more so! One of the lovely things about getting acquainted with some of the club/nightlife sub-cultures in SL is discovering a whole world of specialty designers that I don’t often see on the fashion feeds. Club-goers pass this information around in their own networks, and there are some really thriving little businesses out there.

My adorable hair is from new-to-me designer, A&Y. The hair style is fairly simple, but the real beauty of this hair is all the fun stuff in it! And each little piece, including some of the hair strands, are color change — so you can wear crazy rainbow rave hair, or something a little more subdued and/or color coordinated. And jumping to the bottom (see pics below), you’ll see my stupendous boots from also-new-to-me creator, NeurolaB Inc. Not only do these boots look great, with a lovely shape — but they come with a multitude of texture changing options, including the neon lights. What you can’t see in the picture is that the lights around the base of the boots are animated, and you can change the animation of the lights to a variety of patterns (or static), which is so much fun for clubbing. If you haven’t checked out either of these designers before — be sure to take a look!

Check out the credits for all the terrific pieces in between … they are classics, and will stay in my wardrobe for a very long time!

Happy New Year, my friends … make it a good one!

More Vintage Fair! and other great stuff…. it never stops….

If you haven’t ventured over to the Vintage Fair yet, this weekend would be a fabulous time! I expect the lag has died down, but still plenty of time to shop! One of my new favorite pieces from the fair is this wonderful mesh dress from coldLogic. It is so easy to wear, and so fun. Definitely a retro look, but it could also be styled with a contemporary flair. And, I’m really loving it with these customizable oxfords from Monso, available at FaMESHed. It’s possible I’ll never take this outfit off!

Also from the vintage fair is the fun little necklace featuring a dramatic comic book illustration, from Addiction. She’s got several comic book scenes to choose from. I, of course, choose the redheaded heroine… or is she a villain??

Also be sure to check out this pose set from Bounce This, currently at Fluid. The included gun is texture change, and just what I needed as I roamed around the grid…

Eliza Haiku — Go with God

Eliza Haiku -- Go with God

Last night, my dear friend in RL and SL, Eliza Haiku, passed away after a long struggle with cancer. (in this picture, she’s the redhead!) She had been fighting with her body for years — and SL was a very special place for her to retreat to … to forget, to feel like her old self, to form amazingly strong friendships during a time when that was really hard to do in RL. Her mind and her spirit, both of which infused her virtual life, were bright and active right up to her last few days.

Eliza, my friend and sister, you were a light in the lives of so many people, both corporeal and virtual. Altho’ I will always think you were taken too soon — your life meant something, and had the kind of impact most of us hope that our own lives might have. You will be missed.

Go with God, and rest easy in peace and love.

The Culture Shock event is almost over, and by all reports, it has been a huge success! Congratulations to everyone who was any part of that. You have a couple more days to finish up your shopping, so I have just a couple more things to show you. I haven’t had a chance to show you even a fraction of what is available at the event, so if you have the time, definitely do go over and wander thru the rest of the shops.

In this picture, I’m wearing another jacket from Lapointe & BastChild — this time a classic denim. It isn’t mesh — just normal sculpted parts, with a very versatile and easy-to-use resizer. The gorgeous theater seats that I’m sitting in are a pose prop from Captivity Co. — they are doing some fantastic and interesting mesh pose props, and I’m really looking forward to seeing more from them. The prop itself is beautifully textured, and it comes with a variety of poses, both male and female. If you blog or take pictures for any reason — you can never have enough poses and props! These are worth checking out~

Culture Shock! Ingenue

CS-Ingenue
~See hi-res enlargements of this picture on my Flickr stream~

One of the easier-to-wear uses of mesh that I’ve seen are the minis or pencil skirts that use system layers along with a mesh panel. There is really no need to change your shape or do fitting of any kind to make these work — for most people. (always — do try on a demo, just to be sure it is going to work with you, your AO, or other typical animations — most demos are free, and there is just no reason not to be sure!) This pencil skirt from Ingenue is a great example of such a skirt — and my first such piece! I absolutely love it, and am thrilled to be able to wear a nice-looking pencil skirt in SL!

It just seemed natural to pair this skirt up with another color of the mesh Jude boots, also from Ingenue and available at Culture Shock. I couldn’t resist adding a little sass to this retro look with the newish shortie top from Sn@tch. These were a recent Sn@tch-n-Grab deal, but you should still be able to find them on the “new” wall, I think — the whole pack is still a great deal, and will be super-fun for summer looks.

Yup — I’m still wearing these fantastic mesh shorts from *G* Field — this time in gray (I’m starting to think I should just have gotten the fatpack… :D ) You can also see another example of a Redbird lipstick… and be sure not to miss the gift necklace from Apple May Design (pencils– very cute!)

I also have to mention this super-cute newish hairstyle from Truth … if you like ponytails and/or casual, slightly messy hair — this is a must have. I have a feeling I’ll be wearing this one most of the summer! I’m also loving the newest eyes from Insufferable Dastard (click thru to my flickr stream to see them closer up). The ones I’m wearing were the VIP group gift for April — and I believe they are still available in the store. These are actually my favorite color in the whole set — but there’s a large variety of colors also available in the store.

52 WOCC Bright Turquoise & Onyx Wear, Redbird at Culture Shock

~See hi-res enlargements of this picture on my Flickr stream~

I’ve got a couple more double-duty posts this week for the color challenge, and to show you some more great finds at Culture Shock (you’ve still got time!!) I have kind of a love/don’t-love relationship with mesh clothing still. I don’t really think it is so much the mesh’s fault as my own shape-shifting laziness. But I was really pleased to be able to fit myself into these cute jeans from Onyx Wear with only a little tummy-tuck. They are fun and easy to wear — and I’m counting them as bright turquoise!

It’s a little hard to see on this photo unless you look at the enlargement, but I am wearing a lipstick from new-to-me designer, Redbird. I’m not a big lipstick wearer generally — but these makeups are really lovely and not too overwhelming. I’m wearing the nude shade, on a clean version of the Giselle skin from Glam Affair. If you are enjoying the tattoo layer makeup, definitely take a look!

Culture Shock! Lapointe & BastChild, *G* Field, [HANDverk], STATUS

cs-lapointe-gfield
~See hi-res enlargements of this picture on my Flickr stream~

This might be one of my most favorite outfits that I put together from this year’s Culture Shock! The Lapointe & BastChild jacket is a donation piece. These days I feel like I should mention that the jacket is NOT mesh… it’s a “normal” sculpted piece that is absolutely beautiful, and I fell in love with it as soon as I put it on. There are two sleeve options in the pack — one plain, and one with the same graphic you see elsewhere on the jacket (I opted for plain sleeves, since the graphic was striking enough as is). The jacket is resizable and stretchable. I love, love, love designers who include stretch scripts that allow you to adjust a piece in multiple ways (rather than just scaling the whole piece up or down). You can really achieve a pretty perfect fit that way.

I’m also completely in love with these frilly shorts from *G* Field. They are actually designed to look a lot like a skirt in many positions… but they are shorts, and behave as such. These shorts are mesh, and were some of the easiest-fitting mesh I have yet to experience! There are two colors of the shorts available at a special price AND as donation items … but many more colors are also available, including the black ones I’m wearing here.

Be sure to get a look at the close-up photo below to see the terrific new jewelry from [HANDverk]. This shop is relatively new to me, but I’m really looking forward to seeing more from them. I love the lines on these modern pieces!

52 WOCC Seashell Peach & Sn@tch, Magnifique at Culture Shock

snatch-peach~See hi-res enlargements of this picture on my Flickr stream~

Sn@tch is moving into the mesh market, and one of Ivey’s latest concoctions is this lovely little cocktail dress. This one just called for stockings with garters, and girly shoes with bows! You can find a whole slew of colors — pastels and darks — at the Sn@tch booth at Culture Shock.

I also have to mention the beautiful skin I’m wearing here… the latest from Glam Affair, Giselle.   I’m very taken with this skin, so I’m sure you’ll be seeing it a lot! The version I’m wearing here is the “clean” version that you will find in every makeup package. I wanted to especially mention this, because if you are trying to stretch your lindens like I am, you might have a tendency to buy the most neutral face in a skin line, and then take advantage of some of the wonderful and affordable tattoo layer makeups available. (and that is actually a great plan!) But with Glam Affair, you can buy any makeup, including that dramatic one that catches your eye, and still receive a clean version in the pack that you can use with other makeups. I don’t know that this is true of all older Glam Affair skins — but it was the case with the last two regular releases, Leah and Giselle (and I have no idea about skins put out for special sales events).
